Summer Was Here

“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”
― F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

So I am using the word summer a lot these days.

But you see it is very easy to love the summer colours. The mints, the peaches, the oranges... In India, most of us don't get to see harsh winters. But even if it is not harsh, it does mean blacks and burgundys to a lot of people. Hence summers are important as well.

Anyway, I don't have much to write today. Hope you guys are doing great. Have a great weekend!

Happy Diwali!

I have never done a post on Indian outfits.

I know. What a shame! So this Diwali, I thought I should do something different.

When I talk about traditional salwar kameez, I have to talk about W. All you Indian ladies who are reading this post, you know what I am talking about. I hope I won't exaggerate if I say that all of us have W kurtas.

I bought my first W kurta with my first salary. It was a black printed kurta and I shocked an entire floor in office by wear something Indian for the first time in office a few weeks later.

W refers to woman. W has the most wearable kurtas, kurtis, skirts and palazzos and bags and jewelry. See their collection here.

Let me know what you think about W?

Green Is Good

Changing seasons feel like some old world carriages, taking us from one place to another, albeit at a speed of a turtle mostly. It is almost the end of October and all that is left of summer are some hot afternoons and the will to wear shorts and dresses till they call it officially cold.

It rained this week and suddenly, green is the colour that I see everywhere. At times I wonder, if there were always the same number of trees on my way, why do I see more green now?

But green is good. Coming to the outfit idea, I have always been fascinated by the idea of combining a skirt and a blouse of the same colour and make it look like a dress. It is like you have a new dress.Well, almost.

So, what do you think?

Bright Colours and Daniel Wellington Giveaway Winner!

'Are you afraid to wear bright colours,' she asked softly.

'No, I think they are okay. I like bright flowers, don't I, though there are times when they are a bit too much. I mean why should I wear a bright yellow or orange when I head to the local market just to buy some groceries? It is not like I was born in Spain. They are good though. Some ladies look like fresh daisies in bright colours. You gotta stop and notice someone in orange, don't you? But at times I hate distractions. Dull is better. But I like bright colours. I will wear that black sweater today as it is a formal do though,' I said.

'You have traits of a crazy person. Wear this orange now,' my cousin said.

I have always talked like a certain Saif Ali Khan in life. He talks in a way that leaves you wondering if he needs a glass of water. I need someone like my cousin once in a while to just shut up and decide.

So, why don't we usually wear bright colours?

Maybe because we are not that expressive, maybe because we forcibly intellectualize events in life. We do wear bright colours at times.Black looks elegant. I think we are just chickenshit. I am mostly speaking for myself and those people I see in the street.

I would stop rambling and announce the winner of the Daniel Wellington Giveaway now:
