It's No Fun To Be Yellow

“It's no fun to be yellow. Maybe I'm not all yellow. I don't know. I think maybe I'm just partly yellow and partly the type that doesn't give much of a damn if they lose their gloves. One of my troubles is, I never care too much when I lose something - it used to drive mother crazy when I was a kid. Some guys spend days looking for something they've lost. I never seem to have anything that if I lost it I'd care too much. Maybe that's why I'm partly yellow. It's no excuse, though. It really isn't. What you should be is not yellow at all.”

Flowers

I do not have a lot of floral prints in my wardrobe. And I wonder why. Floral prints remind me of spring, bouquets and Flora pencil.

I don't know how many of you remember Camlin flora pencils. They were white pencils with pink flowers. These days, they sell flora pencils as well. But I have seen only the purple ones which don't have half the charm of the white ones.

Anyway, you guys have a great weekend. Sorry for being absent now and then. Follow me on Facebook and Instagram if you like reading the posts.

The Usual Days

At times when I travel in metro and happen to see a well dressed girl I first notice the small details; the way she has tied up her hair, a small ring, the bracelet that shines alongside her watch.

And then I wonder, does she always look this good? Or are there days when she looks entirely different, when she did not even look into the mirror before heading out to anywhere? Are these her usual days?

And as I wonder about the usual days of well dressed girls, I realize I usually do not see a mirror before leaving home. And that's not a good habit. But that is the usual me. Trust me, I tend to change that.

If you like this blog, please follow me on Facebook and Instagram.

And one question, do you have days when you leave home without looking into a mirror?

Hair Woes

I love how French women style their hair. Or should I say not style their hair? The way they wear a lovely dress and go about their business in a long, really messy but great looking hair. The lack of shampoo somehow seems to help.

And yes, they never blow dry their hair. There is nothing perfect about their hair. Its just imperfect loveliness. The long, fuzzy, out of bed hair adds a lot to how they look. At times I make notes, no dye, no highlights, no chopping unless it is a real bob and no shampoo.

I envy them, because I have oily hair that look terrible after a day of washing. If I shampoo them today, this is how they would look the next day. No option but to tie them up.

What do you do with your hair on the non shampoo days?

Colour Blind

I love Kalki Koelchin. Every time I watch her movie, I love her more. She is a tigress, a quiet one. When I went to watch her play Colour Blind, I did not know what to expect.

Watching the play was like reading about Rabindranath Tagore in a fashion where you turn a page of the book and skip some and come back to the previous one. Like you are trying to get some answers. You move between the present and the past, over and over again.

Kalki played the character of the writer of the play and Victoria Ocampo, the Argentine writer with who Tagore spent some time with and was attracted to. About her performance, what I can say is Kalki knows her onions. And there was something about the way she walked on stage. Some day I would like to tell her that in person.

Why I talked about Colour Blind, the play? Well, I wore this to the play.

They All Should Never Look The Same

A few days back, I saw my flatmate watching a TV show on TLC in which they gave makeovers to people. The difference between the before and the after was really striking. The best thing that I noticed about the show was that the stylist did not force her style on the participants. She made sure the participants were comfortable and happy with their new look. If they did not like a certain colour or do not really like a certain way of dressing, they were heard.

The whole thing made me think of how we feel free and happy when we dress up the way we want to. And I find it strange when some people think everyone in the world should dress up in a certain way. They do not even consider, even for once, that not everyone likes the same thing. I have seen this happening a lot within gangs of girls. Some of them tend to tell others how to dress up and most of the time, they all end up looking just the same!

Some like bodycon dresses, some like shift dresses or maxi dresses or no dresses but pants or shorts. Some like their shorts to look tailored while others like them really casual or even ripped.

They all should never look the same.

I am happy in those distressed jeans and white t shirt and my Daniel Wellington watch. Hope you have used the discount coupon rupadw while buying a watch from their collection. Checkout Daniel Wellington's website here and their Instagram account here.

Anyway, enough of my observations. You guys have a great weekend. Please like my Facebook page. And yes, I am now there on Instagram as well.

The Precious One

In all the life that I have lived so far, I have seen people being very possessive about a few things e.g. a piece of jewelry, a box of collectibles, a family heirloom etc. I had this friend who would keep a book gifted by her mother safe in a wooden box and no one dared touch it.

In my case, that much treasured possession is my Daniel Wellington watch. I have never seen a better designed watch and there is nothing I would like to change about it. I am so possessive about it. I have given my previous watch to my sister. But no one will get this one :)

Check their website to explore a world of the best edgy watches ever. And yes, here is the good part. Use coupon code rupadw before making the payment and you will get 15% discount. The code is valid till 30th November.

Don't forget to have a look at their Instagram account. Trust me, you will love it.

Rock Chic Meets Pearls

I have tried to add some feminine element into this one. Pearls. Pearls remind me of my friend Pooja. That girl would add pearls to anything and everything and it looks so cool. I will feature her on my blog. Soon. I have not even asked her yet. But why ask? She will be here.

Like A Boy

Some of us are born tomboys. My sister was the big one. I mean if being tomboyish was measured with a number, say 3, 6 and 10, then she is an absolute ten. In this post, we have tried to create a boy inspired outfit that would look totally cool. I mean, look at this one, if you  increase the length of those shorts a bit, just a bit, an average boy could totally rock this outfit.

You guys have a great weekend.

Very Indian

Whenever someone asks me how I am, I have this usual answer, I am okay, everything is the same. And its weird. Because everything is not the same actually. Its just a weird habit of mine to say everything is the same. Or maybe, I do not give importance to anything. So I end up not talking about things.

Don't know what am I talking. You guys have a great weekend. Sharing with you a post on Indian clothing this weekend. This is my sister again, posing happily for the blog and her Facebook profile pictures.

Tote Bags and Us

I like tote bags. They make me feel I have so much to do. And they don't let me struggle with my stuff. I like women in maxi dresses and tote bags, going about their business, walking from one shop to another for hours.

Why are tote bags a must have?

They may look like a huge square shaped things made of cloth, but there is more to them. You can carry your laptop (in my case, the beloved camera), an e-book reader or a pair of flats in case you might have to walk later (Yeah walking in heels is not awesome, but that is a different story).

And you can customize a tote bag without breaking your bank. You can have the photo of your loved one on it or you can write something as well. There are many websites offering those kind of things.

And I think it is so cool when men carry tote bags. I am kind of sick of seeing men with backpacks all the time. The Guardian's Kyle Chayka once explained why every real man carries a tote and why it is unfair to call it a murse.

"Tote bags were originally as manly as could be. LL Bean designed the modern tote’s first ancestor in 1944 with the Bean’s Ice Carrier, a hefty bag made of reinforced cotton for carrying giant blocks of ice from car to ice chest”. How much more rugged can you get," he says.

I agree.

Sea Gets Me Thinking

So I took a break of exactly three months. Hope you all are doing well. I will take the liberty of talking as if nothing happened. As if there was no gap. So.... I was talking about the sea. At nights, when the waves hit the shore, they made a sound that got me excited at first. And with every wave, the sound grew on me. Even as I walked, I tried to block all the thoughts, all the footsteps, all the little sounds, to listen to the waves, to check if they have gotten a bit ordinary now.

They did not.

My friend says God is in the waves. As I spotted a tiny boat at the brink one morning, I wondered, there is nothing in there. No society, no biases, no rules, nothing. All that is there is a fisherman and his will to survive. Everything else is non-existent. And I thought some more.

The point I am trying to make is that the sea gets you thinking. If you are looking for some answers, you may like to give it a try. I know that everything is within. But nature plays its part. It always has.

Philosophy apart, I look happy. Right? Love the Forever 21 blouse and shorts.

Twilight And The Sea

I was born and raised in plains. For a long time, I had no idea how a mountain or sea would look like. But I remember discussing this typical conversation with my friends and sisters all the time - are you a sea or a mountain person?

I said sea because the movies made it look like a million buck serenity. It seemed like the sea would give you all answers you need, that it would help you be.

Later I went to both mountains and sea and I realized it was the mountains that seemed more breathtaking to me.

Having said that, there is something about the sea. There is something about the vibe on a beach that makes you want to buy a house nearby and strut around in flowy dresses or your usual pair of shorts.

I have seen that no picture, no matter how great the photographer is and no poem, no matter how great the poet is, could ever encompass the total sum of what you, with your naked eyes see and feel when you are face to face with the blue endlessness. I will not dare say that the pictures are bad or the poems are less surreal. I would just say that it may not present you with the beauty, in its totality. You have to go there, to see.

To be continued....

The Overalls

Overalls are a better option as compared to denims during this summer. They are light and look nice. The only thing is, you might want to think about not wearing it when you go for a party and if you have a weak bladder :)

Nothing much to write here. These are one of those pictures I clicked when the sisters were here.

You guys have a great weekend.

The Usual Days

I believe that everyone has a style and if someone made caricatures of people without giving out much description of their faces, we still would pretty much recognize who they are.

I am not talking about how we dress on special occasions. I am talking about that something we put together in a jiffy on a usual day, about those colours and kind of clothes we are drawn towards, no matter where in world we are shopping.

Our usual days bring out our true style in a lot of ways. They select a certain colour, a certain length, a certain fabric, a certain accessory. The usual days are good because we do not have to dress up as per some occasion or person. Those are the days we can just be.

Happy

Happiness: A state we all strive to be in, that gift we get in advance, that  call we wait for, that day we let it go. It is the warmth you feel in an old friend's company, the peace you get in being courageous, the relief that tells you it was all worth it.

Happiness trumps all other emotions. It talks about your innermost fears, it makes you run to reach your home or to be with someone. It dwarfs the setbacks, it archives the heartaches. It keeps you going.

At times happiness comes to you like a wave that consumes everything or that burst of feelings you wish to store in a bottle and keep safe. At other times, happiness comes and sits beside you without making a sound, as if it is waiting for you to realize its presence on your own.

Wish you all a happy weekend. Do what makes you happy. Be with people who make you happy.

For Lack Of Words

Okay, so last time when I posted about this long, pink skirt, I talked about Economics and Fab India. This time, as expected, I am running out of ideas for writing.

Should I write about long skirts and the way to style them? Should I write about Shilpa Shetty's well designed skirts in Fir Milenge? Should I talk about lengths of skirt and feminism?

Or should I talk about nothing and just say hello?

You guys have a great weekend. Do like my Facebook page to get updates!
