Happy New Year!

A new year promises an array of possibilities. Even in fashion, we would have new reasons to look gorgeous. As 2013 comes to an end I look back and see some great fashion trends that only few years offered before.

My favorite trend of the year was boyfriend jeans followed by overalls and of course the very infamous cropped top! Well I don't have a midriff to flaunt a cropped top, but the other two are very much going to be in the closet soon. Am I too late? Maybe. These trends deserve some extension, don't they?

From Kate Middleton's elegant maternity style to Miley Cyrus' love to hate negligee, 2013 had an assortment of fashionable things on offer. This year I loved Marion Cotillard on the red carpet (and well almost everywhere, she is an absolute delight to look at, isn't she?). Beyonce at Mrs. Carter Show World Tour did mean some larger than life fashion and Jennifer Lawrence had a fashionable fall in a lovely Dior dress at the Oscar's.

As we have an addictive weather to sit and eat, I am going to take a short break. Will do all bad things, no work and all play. You guys have wonderful new year celebrations. May the new year be really great for everyone.

Will be back in a few weeks.

Shades of Grey

It has every reason to be one of winter's most loved colours because the grey not only makes a good twin sister to the weather but also gives way to other colours to come, sit with it and look spectacular.

I don't remember any time of my life when I did not have a grey t shirt. Somehow I used to get a hint from some kind of weirdness that I am running short on them (the tees I mean). For me, a grey t shirt has to be on the top in a list of the most important basics.

I am sorry for not posting on Friday. Even I don't remember what I was doing. Hope you guys are enjoying the Christmas days. Enjoy! Have a good one!

Little Adornments

For some, accessories define an entire outfit. A necklace that makes a lot of statement, a pair of ear rings that refuse to unshine, a bag having that perfect allure or bracelets that tell a lot about a person's inner self.

At times I see someone playing really cool with accessories, I close my eyes and picture them sans the little adornments. And it does make a difference. They look different to that perfect flash screen installed in my head.

Achala got this pretty necklace for me from Colaba, Bombay. I would like to spend an entire day at Colaba some day, all alone, just shopping and eating sandwiches.

Hope you guys are having a good time. Christmas is not far. I am suggesting Secret Santa at work. Isn't Secret Santa a wonderful thing?

The Long and The Short of It

In my head, I have been taking the rebellious lane for a long time now. Ever since I was 10. I had pictures of studded jackets, messy hair, loud songs, old torn shoes coupled with similar feelings in my head.

But on the outside, everything was subdued, silent and non messy. The interior had a serious conflict of personality with the exterior. But the interior always dominated. Maybe because the head is always stronger than the body.

So do all people dress up the way they are inside their head, calm or restless, grunge or nudes & peaches, palazzos or leggings, basic or flamboyant, black or white? I don't know the answer to this question. But I do want to find and embrace whatever I am.

I believe it takes time to find out what look we really want to sport and not regret later. It will take a while for me. Till then, I will look at people to see what they are doing. You have a great weekend.

Master of Many Arts

A girl in a beautiful cape, that is how I used to remember Abhilasha, founder of the Indian fashion blog 'Looking Good Feeling Fab'. She is a master at wearing one piece of clothing in various fashionable ways. She makes good videos as well. She is also a master of assembling different things to create an outfit that is truly different and inspirational.  Here is a short interview with her. Do check her blog and let us know your opinion about it.

What does your blog mean to you?
In one word it means "Opportunity" to me. Its an opportunity to learn, an opportunity to write, an opportunity to connect and so much more..

Which food wards off your blues, instantly?
Maggie when the blues need to vanish in 2mins, cold coffee in the summers and hot chocolate in the winters.

What are you most comfortable wearing?
Anything from my husbands closet..

What is your favorite colour?
Pinks and peaches and whites..yeah I know I am pretty indecisive.

One thing that you would never wear
Never say never...but I think it would have to be anything that has the word balloon attached to it. Balloon dresses, balloon skirts...you get the picture.

Which are some of your favorite blogs?
Wendys lookbook, Kature, Atlantic Pacific, I discover new ones to follow and drool over everyday, and that is so much fun.

Which fashionista or fashion icon inspires you and why?
Maharani Gayatri Devi. She was always stylish and classy while being bold with her choices in life.

One thing you would like to change about yourself?
I would like to throw away all my insecurities.

What are you going to do now?
Slip into my pajamas and have dinner.

Access All Areas

Naive, bland, unflavored, uninteresting, nonliterary, lack of texture and flow...at times I go on and on trying to find words for my writing style. Yes, I am severely dissatisfied with words that come out of the movements on my keyboard.

There is this girl I know who writes beautiful. At times I do see flaws waving hands from her writing, flaws that are so interesting that instead of making the reader angry, take him or her to a world of brilliant stories.

But right now, at this very moment I am angry at the lack of words and it fills my head with despair and hopelessness. An then I wonder what would that girl do in moments like these? Would she have moments like these in the first place?

I want to access all areas of my head and heart to find something I can be proud of. All areas that are yet untouched and untrodden, waiting to be accessed, decoded and transformed into something great.

Thanks a lot for reading about a war you had nothing to do with. Thanks a lot for visiting my blog. Dear readers, I want to do better.

Just The Small Things

The other day I was talking to a friend about how we have stopped being the happy, eccentric, crazy us. How we have lost the big comedies of our lives to its small tragedies. And we have been doing so for really long without even realizing it at all.

It seems to be a collective phenomena. What else can explain why no one points this to us, except for the fact that over time, most of us start behaving the same? Our experiences in life seem to be some sort of an effective energy drink that works in reverse. We look calm, we behave perfect. But we act less with every passing day.

I know this has been said many times before. But happiness does lie in small things. Life is a lot about being excited about things, small, smaller, smallest. It is of utmost important to be crazy about something in life.

Sharing some pictures. Just the small things. The bougainvillea in my balcony that makes really pretty mornings. Dark chocolates to make the nights less darker! Old gifts to be cherished. A Saturday evening. Being featured in Cosmopolitan magazine.

Hats And Other Things

When I saw this girl ( in the first picture) wearing a hat of the perfect width, diameter, whatever it is called, I was wondering how come I never bought a hat like this for myself before? Hats make a statement by themselves. How I wish girls in India would wear more hats.

The denim jumpsuit worn by the girl in the second picture was so chic that I was left with no choice but to stop, stand, stare and click. Don't miss her neck-piece as well!

I loved the third girl's t-shirt and Juree's dress and her husband has done a commendable job to make this picture really interesting :)

Hope you guys are doing great. We are busy with Diwali celebrations in India. Looking forward to many Diwali inspired posts by fellow Indian bloggers. You guys have a great time.

And The Leaves Fell

As I see leaves falling from trees right now, my heart knows that this is the best time of the year and  suddenly it starts behaving different. It flutters, it whispers and then something happens and it even shouts like crazy.

Maybe I am exaggerating. But I am one of those people whose happiness, sadness, excitement, creativity, average reacting time, threshold to weirdness that surrounds me etc has a lot to do with weather.

Of course an Indian autumn is not that cold mostly, except for a few regions. So maybe I can afford to go gaga over it here.

I have resolved not to waste a single weekend for a while. I am sure a lot of you are making the most of the season. So, what does autumn mean to you? Let me know in the comments section. And please like my Facebook page.

Have a great autumn!

Denim Love

A good denim shirt is something one can never have enough of. At least that is how I feel. It has the charm of a school boy one once had a crush over. That half mature rugged exterior and his love for blue.

I wanted a denim shirt or a jacket for a really long time- as long as my sister took my denim jacket and never returned it. There is this thing with sisters. They never return :)

It just came to my mind that I should ask for that jacket again. The distressed ones look even better! You guys have a great weekend. Do like my Facebook page.

And Wella

Taking pictures gives me a silent joy. At times it is an instant thing. At other times the joy arrives much later. And then there are times when I discover a small something about a certain picture after many days.

I attended a Wella Fashion Blogger's Meet last weekend. Posting some pictures I clicked there. You have a great weekend! Do like my Facebook page if you haven't.

From Top: Dr. Awungshi Philamazan from Dr. Poison Ivy's beauty BlogKanupriya from Anthiea and
Surbhi from The Fashion Flite. About the last picture, i will post her name after some research. Till then, I just love her hair.

Autumn Flowers

I Left you in the morning,
And in the morning glow,
You walked a way beside me
To make me sad to go.

Do you know me in the gloaming,
Gaunt and dusty grey with roaming?
Are you dumb because you know me not,
Or dumb because you know?

All for me? And not a question
For the faded flowers gay
That could take me from beside you
For the ages of a day?

They are yours, and be the measure
Of their worth for you to treasure,
The measure of the little while
That I've been long away

Done By None

"Have you checked out the new Done by None jumpsuit," asks a colleague. Those are the new thong flats from Done By None, exclaims my friend at a girl in metro. I don't remember any other brand that sparks such instant conversations among us lately.

About Done by None, there is something about those limited edition collections. There is something about those designs that are international. There is something about the packaging and the value for money that you get.

When I discovered Done By None almost a year ago, its shoes caught my eye. I ended up writing a blog post in around 30 minutes I guess, at least that is what I remember. I have not looked back since then.

You can buy this Done by None skirt here and those wedges here. And explore the website as there is lots more. Happy shopping!

Blue Zone

When Anne Hathaway donned a tuxedo to present the Oscars, there were mixed reactions. Some found her refreshingly different, and some were just busy laughing at James Franco in drag. I, on the other hand knew exactly what I was doing: being in awe of her.

Though I admire it on others, I have hardly been into the typical girly fashion. And when I try to do that, I know I am just trying to experiment and it wont last forever. I like other girls and at times even myself in something that is out and out pink and red and pearls.

But I keep falling back into a zone. Let me call it a blue zone. In that zone, I wear more shorts than skirts, more pants than dresses and even if there are lots of dresses, there is something that keeps a tab on the frills of ultra feminine-ness.

So they use the term 'lady-like' as a compliment. But I wonder what do they say for style that is a bit or more manned up.

You guys have a great weekend ahead!
